Not just coming to know, but their continuing to know, or rather, their taking in knowledge of God and Jesus Christ results in everlasting life.
w50 10/15 p. 390 par. 3
up until now, everlasting life was dependent on "taking in knowledge".
it was a perfect fit for a publishing house to interpret that scripture that way.
if we didn't keep up with the endless stream of publications from the watchtower our salvation would be in jeopardy.
Not just coming to know, but their continuing to know, or rather, their taking in knowledge of God and Jesus Christ results in everlasting life.

i am the wife of a selfish jw, most everything is anti-climatic, no romance, no happy endings and he never has asked me how i enjoyed it.
the biggest waste of time since last monday when we had a twenty second quickie!

at the meeting this week, there was a part about placing our trust in jehovah and not worrying about food and shelter (mat 6:33).
the part was based on the 2013 yearbook p138 and 139 where there were two examples:.
a family went to their convention leaving their chickens unattended for a number of days, worried about if they would survive.
with the watchtower having a 25million monthly print, here is the breakdown.
1 tree will make 8,333 sheets of paper.
each watchtower, atleast the last i had, had around 16 sheets.
it was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.
in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.
i could not work out who were the jws attending them.
The Field Service slip needs a new column: "LitCart Service Hours".

the truth is often disagreeable, because it fails to support prejudice or myth.

Very telling is the quote continuation in that Encylopedia Americana when it says:
In the short run, the suppression of known truth and the prohibition of free inquiry into truths yet unknown often serve some special interest or privilege.
How true, when the spotlight of special privilege is on the 'Glorious Eight'.
And have they not just done so by prohibiting the flock to do a free inquiry into things (research) ?

Seeing our ... [past] ... beliefs exposed as untrue can be disillusioning, especially if we were taught by trusted religious leaders. Some might liken the experience to finding out that trusted parents were, in fact, secret criminals.
But is not finding out religious truth better than living under a delusion? Is it not better to know the facts than to be manipulated by lies?
When it comes to physical realities, such as medicine, mathematics, or the laws of physics, even the staunchest relativist will believe that some things are true. Who of us would dare to ride in an airplane if we did not think that the laws of aerodynamics were absolute truths? Verifiable truths do exist; they surround us, and we stake our lives on them. ( All of above texts quoted from: 1995 The Watchtower, July 1, par. 5,7 & 8 )
Don't stake your lives on metaspiritual truths!

it's difficult to imagine how this video could be more disingenuous and hypocritical.

What's their unique selling point?
i have been fading for years now and attend meetings very rarely these days.
but something happened recently to make me think about going regularly again.
a couple have returned to my congregation who used to be special pioneers here twenty years ago.
slimboyfat >> . . . out of curiosity,
what ever happened with the couple that returned to your congregation, who used to be special pioneers there twenty five years ago?
Is their spirit for "the truth" still fervent? Or did it (they) expire?
